My Sweetheart's Birthday is 8/31/05 and for her Birthday she
told me she wanted a Pink Flying Elephant. I told her that would
not be an easy thing to find but told her I would try my best. I
have been looking for some time and have found plain old regular
pink stuffed elephants and I have told her that, but she said she
would settle for nothing less than a Pink Flying Elephant. I stumbled
upon your Pink Elephant with White Wings and could not believe that
something like that actually exsisted. Unfortunately it was sold.
Is it possible to get a Stuffed Pink Elephant with Wings for My
Sweetheart in time for her Birthday. Anything you can do? Please
advise me if there is anyway I can make her Birthday wish come true.
Thank You.
Sincerely,

Good Morning James:
Thank you for visiting
my website. The pink elephant with
wings was a special order through the website for a woman whose
brother would tease her with "when pink elephants fly".
So she asked if I could design such a thing. The original sitting
elephant pattern is from the 1960s from my husband's grandmother,
and then I added the wings! I was pleased with the results and the
customer was very satisfied. There were small children in the family
so we decided that cloth wings sewn on permanently with safety-washer-lock
eyes would be the safest bet.
I do have other
elephant patterns: one the elephant is standing like a real elephant,
and another one the elephants are "dressed in clothing"
and sitting like humans. Note the elephant on the website was only
10" and you might like a larger one (I have the same pattern
in a large sitting elephant. I could also offer the option of wings
with feathers. Those type of wings are my own design, and are attached
with velcro to remove when you want to wash the animal. They are
a couple hours extra work and so do cost more. We also need to consider
if any children would be handling the animal because of "safety"
eyes, long strings, etc.
Also
keep in mind that "special orders" do not include shipping
costs. Once you decide the size and style you want, I would give
you a price for the animal and then when the animal is done and
ready to ship I take it to the post office and get a price estimate
for shipping and let you know the amount you need to send to PayPal.
After I have received the PayPal confirmation to ship, the elephant
would be in your hands within a week! If you don't care to use PayPal,
you would need to send me a money order or bank draft before the
elephant is shipped.
Right
now my schedule is full through the end of July, but if you can
make some decisions about the style of the elephant and wings, I
would put your elephant on the work schedule for the first week
of August. It would be done by the end of that week and you would
receive it in time for the birthday gift.
If you
have any questions, or if you want to see the other elephant designs
I have I will be glad to work with you.

Dear Susan,
Thank you so much for your reply regarding the Pink Elephant. I
am definately interested and will do whatever must be done to make
My Sweethearts Birthday wish come true. You had mentioned that you
have other Elephant patterns. Iif possible I would like to be able
to look at the "Standing Elephant" pattern. I would either
get the Standing Elephant or the Larger version of the Sitting Elephant
that I saw on your website that you mentioned you had a pattern
for. One of those two would be my choice. As far as the wings go,
I looked at the Angel doll on your sight and I would definately
go with those type of wings, the ones made out of feathers. I realize

Sweetheart
is worth it. Jolene does not have any children in her house, so
no small children would be handling the Elephant. It would be just
for her, so saftey would not be a concern. I would prefer not to
use PayPal and would rather send you a money order. I work at a
UPS Store so it would be no problem for me to overnight you a deposit
if you needed one or the payment when the Elephant was done. I think
that when Jolene told me she wanted a Pink Flying Elephant for her
Birthday that she was kind of saying it knowing that I would probably
never be able to find such a thing, so when I got your e-mail this
morning stating that this could be done, I can't tell you how excited
I was. Hopefully I will be able to show her that a Man's Love for
a Woman should never be underestimated. Ha, Ha, Ha! Well Susan,
these are my thoughts. I guess the only decision I need to make
is whether it will be a Standing Elephant or the larger version
of the Sitting Elephant. Hopefully you will be able to send me what
the Standing Elephant pattern looks like so I can make my choice.
If you cant, then the larger Sitting Elephant will be just fine.
Thanks for all your info. You have been most helpful. I hope to
hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
James

Dear Susan,
I received your pictures today of the Standing Elephants and was
very impressed. After looking at both the Standing Elephants and
the Sitting Elephant. I have decided to go with the Sitting Elephant
and with the larger version. I did like the Standing Elephants but
the Sitting Elephant seems to somehow have a more playful quality
that I think will appeal to Jolene more than the Standing Elephants
would. So let me just sum up my thoughts. I would like the Larger
version of the Sitting Elephant, I would like to go with the Fake
Pink Fur, and I would like to go with the Wings made out of Feathers.
If you need any more info or input from me, or if you need a deposit,
just let me know and I will be happy to care of it. Thank you so
much for all your input and insights that you have given me so far.
I am very excited about all of this and I look forward to hearing
from you.
Sincerely,
James

Hello James:
I have checked my pattern and laid it out on the pink fake fur
and find that I do have enough, so I can give you a price now.
This price is for a Large (about 16") Pink Fake Fur Sitting
Elephant. The elephant will have safety-lock eyes (similar to
the small elephant). There will be removable feather wings.
As soon as I hear from you that you accept this price quote, I
will start on the elephant. When it is done (give me between a
week and ten days) I will take it to the post office and find
out the cost of shipping this Priority Mail. That should get the
item to you around the 15th of August.
Also do you have a preference in eye color? blue or brown? And
do you want a halo to sit on the top of the head? Let me know
if this price is okay and I'll get busy on it.

Hi Susan,
Thank you so much for getting back to me with the price quote. The
price is fine with me. When you know how much the shipping is just
let me know and give me an address and I will overnight you a money
order by UPS. As far as the eye color goes, I would prefer blue.
I can tell you are a very creative person by your suggestion of
adding a Halo and I appreciate that, but Jolene did not mention
anything to me about something like that in her description of what
she was hoping for, so I would prefer not to have a Halo. I can't
thank you enough for everything that you have done so far. I'm very
excited and just can't believe that I was able to find someone who
could make my quest to find a Flying Pink Elephant become a reality.
I know Jolene is going to be shocked, but I also know that this
is going to make her really happy and I can't wait to give it to
her. Well, that's all for now. When you have the final total let
me know and I will send the payment. Thanks again.
Sincerely,

Hello James!
Pinkie the Flying Elephant is ready to ship! I believe she is
OUTSTANDING! I am anxious for you to get her and most excited
to hear your girlfriend's reaction. The feather wings are wrapped
seperately in the package and have a velcro strip that matches
a strip on the center back of the elephant to attach them (also
to remove easily to wash or store the animal.) The elephant will
be in your hands 3 to 5 days after I receive payment. You may
send a bank draft or cashiers check to: Susan Koeppel (Susan's
Sew-Nique); N5693 Highway 89, Lake Mills, WI 53551.

Dear James:
I received your money order today and took your box to the post
office this afternoon. You should receive the package in three to
five days through the U.S. Postal Service. I hope that you are pleased
with the results but I definitely want to hear from you once you've
looked it over. Also I would like to hear your girlfriend's reaction
to my creation. The original pattern was from my husband's grandmother
in the 1960's, but I have redesigned the pattern to be a bit more
friendly and happy looking animal with the trunk up and curled and
a different way to do the eyes. I will be looking forward to your
responses. And thanks so much for the order!

Dear Susan,
I recieved the Elephant on Saturday and all I can say is WOW!
Susan, it's just Incredible. Pink Flying Elephants really do exist!
I can't believe what your hands created. It's better than I imagined
and I just love it! I love what you did with the eyes, the curl
that you put in the trunk, the pads that you put on the feet, and
how you did the tail. And the wings, well they are just spectacular.
Your craftmanship and creativity has turned some fabric, feathers,
yarn, stuffing, and plastic into a Stuffed Animal that is really
something to behold. You truly have a gift and you should be proud
of yourself for being able to make such wonderful creations. Jolene
is just going to flip out when she see's this and I can't wait to
give it to her. This is going to score some major points for me
with her and that will be all thanks to you. I could have spent
alot of money on something expensive for her, but you know what?
Sometimes it's not about the money. Sometimes something that does
not cost alot can mean more to someone than something that might
cost $1000 and this is one of those times. I know she is going to
cherish this, not just on her birthday, but for many years to come.
Speaking of money, I just wanted to take a second and thank you
for doing this at such a reasonable price. You could have told me
any price you wanted and I would have gladly paid it, but I can
tell that money is not your main motive for making your creations.
I can tell that making people happy is what seems to be most important
to you and that is a truly wonderful thing. I know you certainly
have made me happy and I know that Jolene is going to be so happy
too. I have been teasing her the past couple of days about what
I got her without telling her and the suspense is killing her! Jolene's
birthday is not until August 31st, but I promise that when I give
this to her I will let you know her reaction and if possible I will
also send you a picture of her and your Amazing Elephant together.
Well, that's all for now. Thank you for everything Susan. You'll
hear from me again after Jolene's birthday, so until then, take
care.
Sincerely,

Hi James:
I am so relieved that you like my creation. And thank you for
all your kind comments. I was a bit down this evening, so I read
your letter again and it makes me smile and feel good. Are you going
to put the wings on the elephant before you give it to Jolene? That
would probably look best, but it is difficult to find a good box
for shipping because of their size. That would be great if you email
a photo of her with the elephant.
Best of Luck,

Dear Susan,
I'm sorry that I have not replied to you sooner. I have been so
busy lately I just never seemed to find the time. Jolene absolutely
Loved the Elephant! I wish you could have seen the look on her face.
She was just shocked. When she found out what I had done by contacting
you to have you make that for her I got the Biggest
Hug and a Big Ol' Kiss! She was just amazed that
you made this by hand and said it is now her favorite stuffed animal.
It sits right on her bed. She wanted to thank you for making something
so wonderful and for making her birthday wish come true. I took
Jolene to Atlantic City for her birthday and got her a lot of other
nice things, but of all the things I did and got for her your Elephant
was the present that she liked the most. She has been showing all
her friends and they all love it as well. Susan, I can't thank you
enough for all that you have done. I scored some major points with
Jolene for this and I owe that all to you. You gave me the chance
to make My Sweetheart very Happy and that made me Happy. You should
be proud of yourself for the gift of creation that you have and
I hope that knowing that your gift can bring so much happiness into
peoples lives gives you a feeling of great pride. I'm sorry to hear
about your shoulder surgery. I hope that it goes well and I will
be wishing you a speedy recovery. I will try to send you a picture
of Jolene and your Elephant in the near future. If Jolene ever has
any more unique requests regarding stuffed animals I know just who
to go to! It's been a pleasure dealing with you and I hope one day
I will have the oppurtunity to call on your talents again. I hope
all is well up there in Wisconsin and I hope that once your shoulder
is healed that you can get back to making people's dreams come true.
Thanks again for everything. Take care Susan and be well.
Sincerely,
